Another Mother's Day has come and gone. When it comes to days like this (Valentine's Day, Father's Day etc) we usually go low key. Really low key. We bought Bev a candle and a book and we (attempted) made Bev breakfast in bed, which consisted of eggs on toast and coffee. The girls all loved it so much soon everyone was eating in bed except me. Quite honestly, I was still a little grumpy from the Canucks losing the night before. And it will come as no surprise to me if I wake up in the middle of the night and find a frosted Cheerio or a bread crust under my pillow.
This afternoon we drove down to Iona Beach, which basically sits at the end of the runway at Vancouver International Airport. Where else do you get to sit outside and have a sandwich while watching DC-10's and 757's fly no more than 100 feet above you. If you live in Vancouver, I totally recommend sitting at the end of the runway and then heading down the road a bit to walk on the jetty (4 km walk one way) or do some beachcombing. The tide was way out and we saw some amazing shells and more driftwood had washed up than I could even imagine. A good day, ending with the traditional Sunday evening fare of The Amazing Race and nachos for supper.

Look at that family of yours! Love the first picture of all your girls. May have to try out Iona beach, never even heard of it.
I totally remember the days when we would try to help my dad make my mom breakfast in bed on Mother's day...but she usually had to come make it herself in the end...
Are you going to change your top five Canucks (cough *Luongo*) after seeing "highlights" (more like lowlights) of the game last night?
You are a blessed man. LW
