Expectations and Forgiveness

On sometimes being disappointed when others do not meet my too-high expectation of them, and the insecurity I feel as a parent that I just don't quite measure up--this quote was quite helpful this morning:

"Forgiveness means that I continually am willing to forgive the other person for not being God--for not fulfilling all my needs. I, too, must ask forgiveness for not being able to fulfill other people's needs.... When you forgive people for not being God, then you can celebrate that they are a reflection of God".

Good reminder. Gary could probably wear a shirt that says, `Sorry I'm not God' because I often have too high of expectations of him. Like this one...
