On most Sundays about 10-12 guys gather at the hockey box in Murrayville to play roller hockey for the Kool Aid Cup. For some, it is their church. I can not think of many things in my life that symbolize "community" like the Kool Aid Cup. The warming up, the game itself (it is a best of 7 series, each game to 3--teams chosen each week by the tossing of sticks). The winning team gets their name inscribed on the Cup and they get to drink from the Cup (this has been going for over 10 years, so there are many, many names.) When we started, most of the people we played with were in high school; therefore the name Kool Aid Cup...the winning team would get to drink Kool Aid out of the cup. Although all are now at least in there mid 20's, Kool Aid is still the tradition, although post-game usually includes a beer. The Kool Aid Cup has been everywhere, signed by many NHL'ers (Ryan Smyth, Dave Babych, various hall of famers and Vancouver Canucks)
The dream has always been to play in the snow. Today we are meeting at 12:30 to shovel snow followed by a game. No matter what I put here, it can not match the excitement and anticipation of what is going to take place this afternoon. I will post some pictures later. For me, this is a little taste of heaven.

I'm so jealous! I just learned how to stop on skates (yesss!*arm pump/jersey pull james harskamp style*) and I'm trying to collect up a full set of hockey gear to play in the first years vs the rest of the school hockey game at CBC after Christmas. I'm so excited... I've never even played ice hockey before in my life!
