"Focus as big as God's focus"

Got this one from Oense today: This post is quite a read. Here is a little excerpt.

"It ought to be God's agenda, not the Republican Party's agenda, that drives us." Said Rev. Paul de Vries of NAE's governing board. "We're actually tired of being represented by people with a very narrow focus," he said. "We want to have a focus as big as God's focus." [Of course, as any mystic knows, Dobson's focus is also "as big as God's focus."]

So yes, radical Republican Evangelicals are openly hostile to the idea of caring for the sick, the poor and preserving the environment in a condition biologically hospitable to future generations primarily because they believe the primary purpose of Christianity is to reign in and control human sexuality. Reading that sentence ought to convey some understanding of why we are told in the Bible's shortest verse, "Jesus wept."
