I got a text..it said "Buzzing around..."

So I haven't been home long and already I had some serious fun that made me feel like a little kid again. Over the past number of years, I've had the glorious pleasure of harassing large populations of wasps/bees (someone explain the difference to me) when a nest is found. I don't really do much except encourage my nephews to be agitators (Sean Avery-types). In the past, we found a bees nest in the ground in their backyard that we (they) attacked with water. We fought (Danny, more specifically) some bees in the loft of the place they used to live in. Wayne might have been the hero that day. My nephews Joel, Michael, and Danny have had an uncanny ability to find these nests. I am always appreciative when I get an invite to the showdown. Yesterday was no different. Well, except this was possibly the largest nest I've seen.

I received a text message from Joel that said the following: "HUGE bee hive me danny and pops are going after right now." I jumped in the Burb and headed for the fight. Sure enough-large bees and lots of them. What to do. 'Aah' I thought, "I've been called for such a time as this." I put the burb in 4x4 (I didn't need to, but I did because I can), shut the windows, and started rocking the tree. Not hard enough to knock it over, just enough to shake it up. Sure enough, soon I had an unbelievable amount of bees on my window, literally stinging my burb. This upset me, so I went back for more. Shake, back up, shake, back up. It was glorious. Until I thought I heard them coming up the vent. I paniced.

Now, to really make us all feel like little kids, we all took off in every direction when the older lady--the matriarch of the street--starting walking towards us. "Old Lady, 12 0'clock" I heard someone say. We were outta there. The simple joys in life carry me a long way.
