Stream today, River tomorrow...
Mike Todd is involved in "Streams of Justice." This has caused me some tension this week, not because I think what he is doing is wrong (it is wonderful), but trying to think what "Streams of Justice" might look like in our family with four young children. How do we begin teaching our children about such streams, with the hope that they cause some storms in their life and become rivers. At one point in the article, someone says ""Vancouver is too much capitalism and not enough community-ism". Communityism. There is a word I need to think about. "Isms" make me nervous, but I don't think that is the point. This article is worth the read. Keep up the good work, Mike! Right now, I am living through you.

Beim,
Dave Diewert (the guy mentioned in this article) was my language teacher at Regent and also my "community group" leader. He's always been living on the edge wrt his faith and activism, especially regarding the poor and downtrodden in Vancouver's Downtown East side. It's easy, on the one hand, for me to say I've got a lot of respect for him because I can do so from the safety of my suburban home in Terrace, but I do - and I seek my own ways of incarnating the shalom-life that Jesus modelled so perfectly.
