Sabbath Salt Spring

It is Spring Break here and the last few years we have tried to go somewhere in British Columbia that we have never been. Generally, we prefer a trip that involves a ferry ride as we love the ferries and love being on the water. This year we took a trip to the Gulf Islands, specifically Salt Spring Island. It was everything we hoped it would be, both individually and communally--a good sabbath rest filled with laughter, eating, making fires, drinking wine, playing ping pong, canoeing, tide pool digging, hiking, and ping-ponging. I'm off to Iowa next week to speak to some principals on...wait for it...teacher evaluations.
