What I struggle with are corporate sins. Things like racism and oppression, injustice and inequality that create cycles of poverty and dependence for people from which there are few escapes. It is my conviction that God has given us the church---a corporate expression of Christ, a corporate model of his love---to break these corporate and institutional cycles and patterns that are so difficult for us to deal with alone.
To me, the way to real change is through a group of people who have been "crucified with Christ," so that he can live in them to set up an alternative, the Body of Christ. And as that body takes its responsibility in the neighborhood to do the work of the gospel, it will be creating healthy, corporate models of economics, education, health care, nutrition and day care. This is the power of the promise that God has put Jesus in charge of all things"
