I’ve just re-read my last blog entry. “Sometimes God says ‘No.’” We had a weekend where God said that to our family. Yesterday, suddenly and tragically, my wife Bev’s oldest brother Delwyn died suddenly after a short illness. He was 42. She flew out today to be with her family. We are sitting here rocked to the core, asking tough questions that will probably not be answered. And in all of this, knowing God is good, no matter what. We got these verses from our friend Joyce last night:
1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
And in memory of Delwyn, a blessing:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
Please add Bev and her family to your prayer rotation this week.

Matt, I'll definitely be praying for all of you, especially knowing how weary you were to begin. I am also struggling to understand death as Maputo was bombed for 4 hours on Thursday by an ammunitions dump (2km from our centre) that caught fire due to high temperatures (49 yesterday). As former soviet bombs and missiles flew overhead and landed very near us (some at the centre), we all faced the real possibility of death and I realized I wasn't ready. Anyway- I've updated my blog with some of the details. I'll never be the same again.
