Last night my neighbors car got broken into. Totally discouraging. Made me angry. Single mom and that is what you have to wake up to. Brutal. But something gave us a good chuckle this morning in the middle of all the frustration.
In the ensuing conversation this morning with our neighbor (the victim) and the local police officer, I discovered that our other neighbor has a hidden video camera that tapes everything that happens in his front lawn. Brilliant, I thought, my every move in front of his house gets taped. No more peeing in the bushes. But then I found out why he has video tapes.
Security? Sort of. Some dog has been pooping in his front yard and he wants to catch the little bugger. Hilarious. Video tape, not to catch thieves, but to identify which of the local canines is leaving his or her calling card.
We talked about this as a family and decided that we need to find someone willing to dress up in a dog costume on Halloween and...well, you know. I love that I live in a neighborhood where covert ops are taking place to find the Mysterious Crapper. I will keep you updated.

...sounds a bit suspicious and shitty to me (...as I smile down here in Southern California).......
ok that was a 'laugh out loud' moment!!...a dog and neighbours and a break in. we can relate to the crazyness.
And thanks for the thanksgiving weekend thoughts. Family is precious.
Brilliant.
Totally unrelated to the blog entry (which is hilarious)- just read the line "all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well" and have been encouraged by the Lord- thanks for that reminder in the middle of a difficult few weeks. 99.9% of the time life here is very normal and I don't miss home or the comforts of home (so much grace), but sometimes the challenges of life in a third world country get to you and you need the reminder that "all shall be well."
that's fantastic!
